Energy Efficiency is FGV Energia researcher’s study theme in the World Bank, in Whashington
FGV Energia researcher, Patricia Vargas is working in the World Bank in Washington, USA, conducting a research about energy efficiency. She joined the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) and will remain helping update the Tool for Rapid Assessment of City Energy - TRACE for three months.
The new version of this tool will be developed from benchmark data update for over 50 indicators related to energy consumption in different sectors, such as solid waste, transport and lighting. In addition, new sectors will be included and the most advanced and feasible initiatives will be assessed in terms of improvement in energy efficiency, which may be recommended and implemented at municipal level.
TRACE tool works to support decision-making when identifying sectors with low performance and prioritizing sectors and actions with the highest potential to save energy. It has already been used in several small cities as Kamianets-Podilskyi, medium cities as Sarajevo, as well as large cities as Rio de Janeiro.
