Challenges and Perspectives for the Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels Sector - ANP view
The Director of the Brazilian National Agency of Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), Magda Chambriard has delivered the lecture “Challenges and Perspectives for the Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels Sector - ANP view” on October 20, at FGV headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. This event is part of the program Energy in Focus held by FGV Energia once a month.
“All scenarios outlined by ANP resulting from the current situation analysis and Petrobrás business plan indicate relevant growth and important development in the country’s oil and gas production,” states Magda. She also added that the results conjectured are “extremely beneficial” and do not deserve any pessimistic look. About the pre-salt, the director declared that opportunities remain great. She stated that the Pau-Brasil area, which is not the only one, is higher than Pão de Açúcar. “These areas have up to 450 meters in thickness,” explained.
Data collected by ANP show that the balance of oil and oil products will close this year with a US$ 980 million surplus, compared to a US$ 9.66 billion deficit last year. In volumes, this balance’s result shall jump from 7.19 billion liters in 2014 to 25.8 billion liters in 2015. ANP’s director general, Magda Chambriard, assigns the performance to the growth in oil exports; however, she emphasized the important effect of drop in imports of oil products due to the reduced consumption.
