24 May

On May 24, 2016, FGV Energia realized a debate on the launching of the Electric Cars Booklet, in the headquarters building of the FGV, in Rio de Janeiro, with the objective of promoting the discussion on how the insertion of these can alter the energy market, Automotive and environmental Brazilian.

Concerns about climate change and global warming have resulted in the recent formulation and adoption of the Paris Agreement by most of the world's countries, including the world's largest greenhouse gas (GHG) emitters - the US and China. The message that the Paris Agreement conveys is that the world is willing to transform its way of generating and consuming energy and, in this sense, decarbonizing the transport sector is a key to achieving this goal.

Thus, given the importance of this sector to reach a low carbon economy, the FGV Energia – Electric Cars Booklet reflected on the important role of these vehicles in the global energy transition, in addition to discussing their insertion in the energy market Brazilian, gathering opinions of several agents related to the theme with the objective of mapping challenges and opportunities for the development of this industry in Brazil. The Booklet analyzes the development of the Electric Cars in the world, considering its impacts on the energy, environmental and automotive sectors, on the market and related technologies, in order to contribute to its greater insertion in Brazil. In addition, there is a particular and interesting business model for the entire electric car chain, but still to be defined for the country.

During the launch event of the FGV Energia – Electric Cars Booklet, besides the presentation of the publication, specialists related to the sectors related to the development of electric cars will discuss the challenges and opportunities of their insertion in the country.

The event also had the exhibition and visit of an electric bus to the hydrogen cell from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the FGV Headquarters, with technical explanation.
